KIDNAPPED (Italy Intrigue Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
This time the action isn't scripted…and the danger is real.
Small town television producer Halli Sanders planned the trip of a lifetime to Italy. Not on her itinerary? The disappearance of her siblings, dodging bullets during a high speed car chase, and being kidnapped by a sexy movie star. And that’s just in the first three hours.
A-lister Trent Tomlin put his career on hold to investigate his brother’s suspicious death. When an American tourist unwittingly films the murder of the retired cop who’s been helping him, Trent has no choice but to abscond with the woman and her dangerous recording. But the killers will do anything to get the incriminating evidence—including hold Halli’s family as collateral.
Thrust into the role of real-life hero, Trent finds himself falling for the Plain Jane whose beauty blossoms with every challenge they face. He needs the evidence to put the murderers behind bars. Halli needs it to rescue her siblings. Their attraction heats up, but unless they can find a way to work together, all the planning in the world won’t guarantee a happy ending.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2015Wow, what a book, this read has a little bit of everything, humor, suspense, intrigue, mystery, action, love and romance.
Halliwell Sanders, a producer from a small town in Wisconsin is just plain ole Halli, that’s how she feels about herself that is. Halli, Ben and Rachel, her brother and sister hail from parents that were con artists and in prison from a con gone badly. The three kids have grown up and made better of themselves and are moving on with their lives.
They plan the trip of a life time; they’re going to beautiful romantic Italy. Even though Halli likes a structured planned out life they embark on the adventure of a lifetime contrary to her well planned out itinerary. The promise of a trip to remember for years to come. But what fate has in store for these three will change their lives forever.
On their way to the hotel from the airport they stop at Lake Como to take in the beautiful site of this gorgeous lake and Halli starts videoing some swans swimming peacefully in the calm water. Innocent film right. WRONG, what she actually gets on film is a murder in a villa across the lake and she is discovered filming by the murderer himself. This innocent film throws Halli and her siblings into the run of their life. After Halli is accidently left behind by the lake, her siblings thinking she is in the rental car, they leave her to her own devices and don’t discover she is not actually in the car till their well on their way to the hotel. While waiting for her siblings to return for her, who she is sure they will, she encounters a stranger. He appears out of nowhere and offers her a ride. The sensible gal that she is refuses his assistance and finds herself kidnapped by this sexy, gorgeous hunk of a man. She’s scared to death, unsure of what is happening. She thinks that her brother and sister have set this little scenario up to scare her into forgetting her well planned itinerary and live a little. You know, cut loose. But, she recognizes this hunk as the International movie star Trent Tomlin. Oh my God, what is he doing in Italy and why has he kidnapped her? What does fate have in store for her?
Trent Tomlin, international movie star, known across the globe as Shain West in his movies and as he puts it, “Only in the movies”, has his own agenda and little does Halli know, he just saved her life. They are immediately thrown into a chase with black cars and bad guys with guns. They race through the streets of this small town trying to escape with their lives while she’s still reeling from the fact that she is actually in a car with the handsome to die for Trent Tomlin.
Trent though has his own problems; you see his brother a photo journalist, was murdered and played off to be a suicide by the media and local police. But Trent knows the truth; his brother would never have committed suicide even though he did have depression issues. He is bound and determined to bring his brothers’ murderers to justice, he just needs the proof and he wants to see what this woman has on her video camera. Did she mistakenly see something she didn’t realize she videoed? If she did, she may have the proof that he needs. The big problem is, he has to be careful who he trusts? Is she part of the plot? He knows that the murderers are operating an illegal exotic animal trade running the animals through Italy and then selling them off to the highest bidders. But where does this little gal fit in? Or is she just an innocent that has been caught up in this whole mess. Trent will find out. He knows the cops and other government officials are in the murderers back pocket. He can’t trust anyone.
As fate has it, Halli and Trent are thrust into staying under the radar and keeping themselves alive while desperately trying to solve his brother’s murder. But these bad guys are ruthless and dangerous to anyone who gets in their way. They have no qualms about killing.
This book has it all; and a full version not a shortie. I didn’t want to put it down. The author introduces you to the characters and you will instantly connect. She takes you right into the action and the book just keeps on getting on. And when the real action starts, wow, does this author take off and run with it. Exciting to say the least. The book doesn’t drag and will definitely not bore you to death. The characters have a lot to tell about their lives and the author has portrayed and told their story to the fullest extent. I can only image the author trying to keep up while they unfold their lives to her. But her style of writing to me is superb.
Halli and Trent’s characters are not trusting at all which is understandable given the situation fate has put them in. The love scenes are very well written, no raunchy sex just good solid to build on sex that of course leads into a budding romance. Fate does has a way of sometimes taking over our lives and leading us in directions that we thought we didn’t want to go until the right person is put in our path.
The editing was good in this book, no grammar boo boos and the spelling was all in line as it should be. I can’t stress enough how important this is to me when I’m reading. I don’t like the distraction of getting off track in the story to figure out what the author is trying to say.
I really enjoyed this author and her style of writing though. The book leaves open other possibilities between characters and actually starts giving you the footwork for the next book in the series. I can hardly wait to read the next issue that’s the story of Ben and Eva, Eva being one of the bad guys. Ahhh, but is everyone who they proclaim to be?
I would highly recommend this book to romance readers. I liked the subject matter on the cover as it fit well with the contents of the story, but the couple on the cover does not look like real people. They look avatar to me and I don’t like that. All in all though my hat is off to this author, she has done a great job telling Halli and Trent’s story. She has style, humor and good imagination with a fantastic ear to listen to her characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2012I really did enjoy the book, but found haunted by two major flaws. The story is about Hali, who in twenty something but acts like she is thirteen. Okay, I know lots of people like that, but the actor, Trent, is just a few years older than her, so why do I get the impression that he is a sixty something has-been actor. Is it because of his (over) use of the word sweetheart? Really? Where has this author been to hear that used? I thought I was watching an MGM movie from the 1960's. Maybe because he is a western star? When has there been one of those? Or is it that he is an adventure star? Do you know the age of all the adventure series stars out there? My God, I was into the sixth chapter when I FORCED myself to re-age these guys as it was too creepy reading about this old guy having sexual thoughts about this young girl. It took me several more chapters to accept that they were close in age, but still cringed every time Trent called Hali "Sweetheart!"
Here these guy are driving around Italy shooting and trying to kill people in broad daylight -- in front of many witnesses. With all the police and political power was it ever necessary to try and recover the "evidence" of the earlier murder?
Other than the general premise of the plot and the characters I enjoyed the book. The story was well told and with some complexity.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2012Other reviewers have laid out the storyline of this wonderful novel. So I am going to tell the how-it-makes-you-feel-side.
First requirement loving Italy
Second requirement, dreaming of being there
Third requirement, loving adventure and a Really Good Romance, you know the kind of stuff we would dream of if we allowed ourselves to while we are still young enough to beilieve the guy of our dreams that we thought could never be ours all of a sudden is ours.
Lake Como, I adore Lake Como, Italy. This book gave me such a dreamy, romantic idea for a vacation in Italy. There are severeal scenes in the book that revolve aroung or on Lake Como. When our heroines took severeal days in a cabin cruiser cruising along the shores of the Lake , pulling into quiet secluded coves and then mooring off by little villages where they could buy their provisions to bring back and cook on the boat, have dinner, wine, and a sunset on the boat with all the amazing Lake Como scenery to drink in, while they were falling in love as well... it doesn't get much more romantic than that.
Adventure: Becoming, unexpectedly, out of the blue caught up in some kind of mysterious run for your life, high tech, guys with guns, adreniline pumping , movie star type , high speed car chases, wire taps, kidnapping, going in disguise, narrow escapes, being shot at and yes even more.
It doesn't hurt that the hero who sweeps-her-off-her feet is dashingly handsome, filthy rich, and tired of the bimbo type always after him. He is smart and ready for the woman of his dreams, and the woman of his dreams is an unusual find in todays world, she is real, what you see is what you get , she honestly knows what she wants and what she doesn't want, she does not care how handsome or rich her movie star guy is, she does not want a jerk or a concieted full of himself, womanizer. That is what really turns our heros head and heart. And, yes he sweeps her off her feet in a style so full of dreamy romance that any female reader will delight at reading.
Sure it's fiction but we ladies are always little girls at heart and a this is an uber romantic fairy tale no matter who you are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just like you'd expect, man meets woman..
Total LIE! This story is NOTHING like anyone else writes. From the first page, through the last paragraph, your eyeballs will melt and stick to the screen. Every time you get your expectations up for a solution or a twist to be revealed with a turn of the page, you'll discover whiplash instead. There is NOTHING predictable in these words. I can't wait to read the rest of the works by this author😈

5.0 out of 5 stars Would read it all over again !
This is the first book by this author that I have read & I LOVED IT !!.
The sory is based around a set of 3 siblings visiting Lake Como in Italy, they accidentally become involved with the mafia & there is also a very sexy international film star in the mix.
Fast paced, excellent characters & story development & just enough romance to keep you reading.
A full length story with lots of twists & turns which, quite frankly, I think would make an excellent film in it's own right.
Read it, you won't be disappointed.
