Nineteen-year-old Susanna Elliot rebels against her strict Quaker background which alienates her from her family and community. Rejected by the doctor she admires and is refused permission to take her dead brother’s place in the family business, she flees to join her two cousins on their mission to China. Hawke’s daring exploits have made him a legend along the China coast and Susanna finds herself involved in terrible danger – and love…
I’m Jane Jackson and I write historical romances set in Cornwall during the period between the Napoleonic Wars and the Edwardian era. Containing elements of adventure and intrigue, they explore Cornish life at every level of society and are emotionally-gripping stories of courage, ambition, tragedy, and the redeeming power of love.
Earlier in my career I wrote fourteen medical and contemporary romances for Harlequin set in exotic places, now being reissued as ebooks.
I also teach the Art & Craft of Novel writing at every level from summer schools and Adult Ed to post-graduate. Eight of my students are now published (not self-published) authors.
I have been twice short-listed for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award for ‘Eye of the Wind’ in 2002, and ‘Heart of Stone’ in 2011.
